PTL Update - Integration10 mins

In ODL, for instance, during release time-frame a few folks are granted “Supercommitter” rights, empowering them with merge rights on all repos. That way, when version number changes, or bug fix validated but no one to merge, etc., these set of people can take care of merging the needed patches and getting the release forward. Given our current structure in ONAP, where the integration team as to “vouch” for the state of ONAP before its release, it could make sense having Integration’s committer given such right.

Suggestion: Integration Committers - 1 in APAC, 1 in EMEA & 1 in NAR to cover all the time-zones

08:07:37 From Kenny Paul (LFN) : -discussion of alignment of the ONAP VVP program
08:08:13 From Steven Wright : ONAP VVP project is different - this is LFN OVP ...
08:09:01 From Viswa : Which program OVP or VVP provides the certification for ONAP-Compliant VNF ?
08:09:25 From Kenny Paul (LFN) : -VNFRQTS and VVP are feeders to the OVP
08:09:51 From Viswa : When a SP import a VSP in SDC, which program kicks in to verify the certification of VSP ?
08:10:40 From Kenny Paul (LFN) : -Technical communitys still define the criteria
08:13:14 From Steven Wright : If anyne has input in requirments for VNF certification, then please contribute to VNFRQTS
08:13:26 From Eric Debeau : #info Heather presented OVP during the last ONS
08:14:37 From Steven Wright : If you are interested to write tests for VNF packages - please contribute to VVP or VNFSDK as these will fold into the LFN OVP
08:14:45 From Adrian OSullivan a00252210 : agree with Catherine, I'd like to see how ONAP and other LFN projects fit in with OVP and CVC, what is the hierarchy
08:16:11 From Viswa : Same question in different way : If a vendor ask us where to go to get their VNFs ONAP-Certified, where should we guide them? VVP or OVP ?
08:17:35 From Eric Debeau : #info https://www.lfnetworking.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/55/2019/04/OPNFV_ONAP_OVP_Web_040319.pdf
08:17:57 From Steven Wright : @viswa, ONAP VVP provides tests for a VNF's HEAT template, but does not issue a certificate or logo. LFN OVP provides a process to otain a logo
08:20:34 From Viswa : @Steven Thanks. So answer to my question is OVP ?
08:21:49 From Brian : Linkage between OVP and ONAP needs to be improved since two things will happen 1) ONAP code will be used to test VNFs that operators care about and the OVP team doesnt really talk to integration team and 2) it really should be an ONAP validated VNF not an OVP validate VNF
08:27:43 From Eric Debeau : @Brian. THe link is there as OVP is based on VVP and VNFSDK tools.
08:29:12 From Brian : @Eric - ONAP team has been running the tests on VNFs so not clear how OVP team is working with the rest of ONAP since they will be moving into "instantiation" tests using an instance of ONAP somewhere as part of the next phase validation
08:31:52 From Eric Debeau : Today, OVP is only focusing on a MVP testing the VNF descriptor. I agree that for next phases, we need more relationships.
08:31:56 From Alexander Vul : The intent of ETSI NFV standards was to converge on a set of normative APIs, data formats, and packaging in order to optimize the automation story both from developer and operator perspective
08:33:03 From Alexander Vul : We now seem to be undoing this, by proliferating different packaging formats and different VNF descriptor encodings...
08:33:25 From Eric Debeau : The intent of ONAP is to converge on an open automation platform based
08:33:42 From Alexander Vul : @Eric - Orange is leading most of this standardization in ETSI
08:33:55 From Eric Debeau : ETSI/NFV has also defined 2 flavors with TOSCA and Yang.
08:34:12 From Alexander Vul : Sure… That was the beginning of the end…
08:34:51 From Alexander Vul : Now there are pending changes to support HEAT and K8S, and who knows what else down the line..
08:35:34 From Alexander Vul : So if ONAP is to ever be ETSI compliant we would potentially need to support a whole bunch of encoding formats, which will require SO to bloat…
08:36:11 From Eric Debeau : The reality is there...The cloud infra to host VNF are based on OPenStack and K8S.
08:36:38 From Alexander Vul : Today they are, rest assured that tomorrow they won’t be
08:37:25 From Eric Debeau : An alternative is to translate TOSCA based descriptors to HOT or Helm. To be discussed in DDF
08:37:43 From Alexander Vul : Or the inverse… which is easier
