Portal and VID dependencies in Istanbul

  • Both projects are in Unmaintained status

  • TSC said that Unmaintained are only included if there are cross project dependencies

  • Vulnerabilities exist due to down rev dependencies

  • If no other Projects are using Portal or Vid SECCOM would like these to be removed from Istanbul 

  • portal, portal-sdk & vid repos

  • Discussion of both Requirements and ArchCom input

@David McBride will send notification that the content is being removed from the release

  • Discussion of how to determine cross project dependencies. 

  • Documenting this is problematic. 

  • Integration team will test removing these components to see if anything breaks.

  • Will discuss again at the PTL meeting next week.

Process discussion resulting from TSC 2021-09-16 - 

  • discussion of SECCOM tracking items for regression against Global Requirements

  • Lack of visibility in the context of release status. 

 

Proposal does not take into consideration GRs which don't easily lend themselves to testing (e.g. package updates).  Do we need a hybrid approach, where we use testing, where possible, but rely on Jira task tracking where testing is not practical?
