Logging Libraries:

• still need to move logging-filter, logging-slf4j and pylog from logging-analytics to OOM 
• Have not had an interim solution for a few releases.
• Need PTL feedback in terms of the preferred direction
• Noted the @Byung is looking into it on the Arch Sub

Questions/Comments

• Which components are using these libraries (Amy Zwarico)
  • logging standardization is critical - if we move to a use of some other solutions - a blocker for adoption if we can't do it seamlessly
  • Need to understand how long it will take to standardize with a new solution
  • Use case rather than a global requirement approach?
• Are the libraries used in O-Parent (Sylvain Desbureaux)
  • open telemetry from CNCF could be a solution - TSC needs to be more assertive in diving a solution here.
  • This has been an issue for a couple years - we always seem to take a too-big approach to address this. need to start small
  • one of the challenges we have have is the use of multiple languages - need to standardize the output standard
• Fiachra Corcoran concerns about eelf framework - can we use the kubernetes solution?
• Chaker Al-Hakim need to make sure application level logging is handled to correlate the events -
  • need to start small - we are thrashing

• Kenny Paul to poll PTLs via email about the scope of use of these libraries
• Kenny Paul to add item to TSC agenda to decide on the location for driving the logging initiative (e.g., arch, new task force, etc.)
