We will start our meetings by mentioning the project's Antitrust Policy, which you can find linked from the LF and project websites. The policy is important where multiple companies, including potential industry competitors, are participating in meetings. Please review and if you have any questions, please contact your company legal counsel. Members of the LF may contact Andrew Updegrove at the firm Gesmer Updegrove LLP, which provides legal counsel to the LF.

Zoom auto-transcript service - These are often translated incorrectly and can be misleading. They are NOT Authoritative! Information as to why .
They are included here as a time stamp cross-reference for the recording only! The notes above this line and the actual recordings are authoritative.
07:06:17 Standard stuff. everybody's muted when you come in please keep yourself muted unless you're speaking if you're using a phone line, you can use Star 6 if you send me private chat messages that are become part.
07:06:31 Of the public record. Those initiated by me going the other direction will not, and we'll start off by talking about our antitrust policy.
07:06:40 This policy is important where we have multiple companies, including potential industry competitors participating in these meetings.
07:06:49 Please review it. If you have any questions, please contact your Company's Legal council, members of the off-mail till contact and drew up to Grove to get a firm gizmer up, Grove Llp which provides legal

07:07:11 And what do we have on the docket today? david's weekly update would have been in mail so probably won't be mentioned here.
07:07:20 Have a couple of things in the Ip room just wanted to do a quick demo of the individual dashboard.
07:07:32 I also want to have a brief talk about cost reductions.
07:07:38 Based on the latest report that I got so that's just a conversation at this point.
07:07:45 You need to talk about integration. P. T. L. elections.
07:07:52 Project Life cycle. We will probably spend some time talking about today.
07:07:58 Jakarta words I wanna do an update on badges, and we'll talk about upcoming events.
07:08:02 Anything else. anyone needs to add
07:08:08 Okay, David, anything to say about the weekly update?
07:08:16 Or is it all in the mail it's all in the mail? unless there are questions?
07:08:19 Thanks, Kenny. Okay, Jess, let me stop sharing and give you co-hostification.
07:08:32 Thank you. Hi, everyone. I hope everybody's doing all right let me see, and I need to guess I need to stop sharing, too.
07:08:43 Huh! And we can just barely hear you, Jess.
07:08:50 Oh, really, 1 s. Let me see if I can do this better.
07:08:55 Is that better? Yep: Okay. So I I wanted to talk about the individual dashboard is one of our Lfx tools, and I posted the link in the in the chat.
07:09:11 So that you guys can check it out. So this individual dashboard is basically a a portal where you have your own profile and with information about yourself.
07:09:25 And information about your contributions, Your information information on whether you have spoken on a particular event, etc. So right now I'm.
07:09:39 I'm showcasing my current profile and it basically looks like this: You put a little bit of information about yourself, and when once you connect your accounts you can connect your linking account, your Github account and your Garret account
07:09:54 and it basically pulls in all your contributions and displays them here for you.
07:10:00 So right now. this this is how mine looks like, and you can also log in information about your speaking experience on any.
07:10:09 Any events in any certificates that you have earned training and enrollment, and any community roles, for example, and affiliations.
07:10:21 So it The The reason why this we're showcasing this particular tool is because when you have a profile created, if it basically helps other lfx tools connect to it.
07:10:40 And, for example, if you loading here your contributions, it will help later on, when you're using lfx insights to showcase properly your your the data, that it basically shows your contributions.
07:10:55 So that's one of the things why it's important to make sure that your individual dashboard is up and running, and also, for example, if for people using Pcc when you create your individual dashboard, it it is very important that
07:11:15 you created using your primary email address because any meetings, any meeting requests that are created.
07:11:24 Vf. Pcc. are going to basically be directed to that affiliation that you have that email that you're that you set up your account with is so so just folks may not know what Pcc is.
07:11:38 Oh, I I could barely set up a different session for that.
07:11:43 But basically, Pcc is another offer tools. so basically if you go to into this.
07:11:50 If you if you're starting here, in the individual dashboard, and you look over here, you're gonna notice that we have also other Lfx tools. And in this case, for example, Pcc is right here, And what it does is basically
07:12:04 a center where you can. Will you manage everything about your project and it's mostly used for Project managers like for example, you might see Kenny or David using this tool a lot when they want to create a committee and a
07:12:23 committee list, and they want to manage meetings. They want to manage email lists, or they want to manage services for a particular project in connect other connect services for a particular project.
07:12:36 So when the use case of somebody using this tool for creating meetings or creating email lists your email is gonna be connected to that.
07:12:48 The email that you're using your individual profile is gonna be connected to that 200.
07:12:53 And also we have other tools that are benefiting from the use from from you, creating this individual profile.
07:13:00 100% of you might be familiar with insights.
07:13:06 But when you go to insights and you look at the technical data for your project, you will see contribution data about the repos that had been modified, changes that had been added, deleted, etc.
07:13:24 So all those contributions are linked to what whatever is here. So if it's from from from the needle dashboard, so that that is what this individual dashboard is like the main place to to go in and for users to create
07:13:41 their own individual dashboard. And also it basically helps you connect with other people.
07:13:48 So, for example, if you if you create your individual dashboard and you want to share it around with another user here, you will see a little.
07:13:56 You are, L, where you can use to share with other people as well.
07:14:02 And and yeah, I mean, is there any questions right now? Is Is there any questions so far
07:14:14 No questions about a couple of things that I want, I want to point out.
07:14:16 So stop right there. you can see where the badges are listed.
07:14:22 Yeah, we'll talk about you know i'll be talking about the own app badges specifically a little later on in the meeting.
07:14:28 But I just want to point out that that's there yeah, information is there, including the skills also your particular skills and that you want to showcase here and go ahead. you wanted to say a little bit more.
07:14:44 Yeah. So Pcc. is as just said is something that that's primarily administrative tool.
07:14:55 We anticipate that there's going to be aspects of that that we make available.
07:15:00 2 community members that that serve in particular roles to help manage our communities.
07:15:08 What that might look like for own app don't quite know yet. I haven't spent any time looking at that.
07:15:17 The one area that we do know is that meeting management will be moving into that.
07:15:23 And Shocker had signed up for the to be a beta tester, basically for the architecture. subcommittee.
07:15:32 He signed up for that a while ago. I have not yet been able to take any action on that.
07:15:38 So that's you know on 100% on me but I'm, I'm working with the working with the team.
07:15:47 That's doing that development cause there's a couple things that I think need to be addressed Casey Kane, who, many of you know, has also been working very closely with them to make some progress. there.
07:16:01 The you. You hear us talking about the individual dashboard a lot.
07:16:05 The importance of this is is How it's integrated into all of the other Lfx automation tools that we're trying to put in place for making your lives on our lives.
07:16:17 Much, much easier when it comes to interacting with all of our Linux foundation projects.
07:16:24 Just so can you walk through what people would do if they've got multiple email accounts.
07:16:34 Yeah. So if you have multiple email accounts, you can submit a request to get them merge.
07:16:40 So, for example, if you go here under, if you want, if you start here on open profile of Dev, and if you go here to get help and then support, you will see what you guys been familiar with with a portal system, and if you
07:16:57 need a help merging your accounts. You will go here into individual dashboard, and then there's over here account merge request.
07:17:08 So this is our request to our team, our Lf. team to help you out with that.
07:17:12 But and this is like our ticketing system that you guys are very familiar with.
07:17:16 So you just submit one of this. But yeah, it is important that you use your primary account when you're registering here.
07:17:27 That account is basically what it's gonna be used for other tools to operate.
07:17:34 So it will integrate other tools using that particular primary email account.
07:17:43 And yeah, when you, which you start here on the individual dashboard, you will see this, and you will see this side panel where you were gonna fill out your profile.
07:17:56 Basic information, any identities, your your passwords, etc. and in your accounts that are connected.
07:18:05 So basically, as I was saying, you can connect all your social accounts.
07:18:08 You can connect your linkedin, your github, your garret, and you can also send your own visibility.
07:18:17 However, you want to your profile to be looking like for other people, and you can set it to public which it will display. these basic information.
07:18:28 This, this, this is all custom toggled by me, so you can also toggle any particular block for information to turn that on and off for for visibility.
07:18:40 But you can also set it to private with. basically it will.
07:18:44 It will not show anything, and once you switch it back to public, you will see that some information is possible.
07:18:52 Then from here, from here you can start toggling on and off whatever you want to to customize visibility.
07:19:00 Basically and and private's the default correct, hey? bravest to default.
07:19:08 Yup: Yeah. And yeah, you this way, nobody will will be able to see anything, but they will be able to to notice that you created a profile.
07:19:17 Basically. But yeah, I mean, I I really encourage people to go here and start looking into the individual profile and let me know if you have any questions.
07:19:27 If you have any issues connecting your your Garrett account your Github account, because we we we have helped other people with small issues.
07:19:41 But I want to make sure that everybody's initial experience is as smooth as possible, and also I just wanted to do to say, if you have more questions about how old individual dashboard or any other Pcc.
07:19:58 Tool works. we have available the documentation for you so the same thing. If you're going to get help, and click on Docs is gonna be taking you to the documentation for the particular tool that you're viewing So in this case
07:20:10 if you click on Docs here it will be taking you to the individual dashboard, information, documentation, information.
07:20:20 And if you happen to be looking at another tool, for example, insights and click on Docs, it will transport you to where insights the the documentation for insight is, Could you go to the identity section for a moment
07:20:36 please. So here is is real important, because if you look, and you know, you see that that, for Github just has a couple of different a couple of different identities.
07:20:57 That can be tied in there and then off to the off to the right-hand side.
07:21:01 There's different things that that can be selected there tying these together is really important in terms of our .
07:21:13 Ability to get, make sure that that you are getting credit for the work that you're doing in insights oftentimes, folks will have different different identities scattered between tools and they may be working on one
07:21:29 and and doing something else, and not getting credit for it.
07:21:32 So in terms of our ability to make sure that hey? you're you're getting the credit that you need. so you can go to your management and and pull up insights. and say, hey?
07:21:45 Look at all the great work. i'm doing here we want to make sure that everybody's getting credit for that and that the the company affiliation is all correct.
07:21:55 So that was just one thing I wanted to point out. Yeah. and maybe some other time, I can showcase how insights feature.
07:22:03 Information. But, as Kenny says, Once you go to insights all the data that you can filter and contribution, information and contribution or information by organization, all of that affects right.
07:22:20 So. And also we have other tools like, for example, the community dashboard, that is part of Lfx insights which helps you visualize like a scoreboard.
07:22:31 Basically of all the contributions that you have done in all the information is displayed in in a board kind of way.
07:22:41 So it is important that your contributions are showing up there.
07:22:45 So basically, that's what the importance of this tool is by the way, how often will that contributions part be updated?
07:22:58 Cause. What I see is my contributions, and were ended in May, so no other contributions were updated.
07:23:05 So is there up whatever i'm periodic zoom or is that something? it's the updated in in often enough.
07:23:17 But Do you have your accounts connected over here in the I see until the end of April.
07:23:28 I see, contributions, but nothing after them. So one thing that I need to mention is that our team is working on a version or a new version of the insight tool.
07:23:43 So I wonder if that could have affected the fact that you're going to have stopped because our team might be in the process of slowly transitioning to the version to 2 of insights?
07:23:57 I can. If you poster in the in the over here on support, what? how I show you, and get help, and then support and go to the ticketing system and submit a ticket for us.
07:24:13 I can point it out to my team and it's not so important.
07:24:18 I was just wondering. so I I don't Okay, so I I think i'll bring it up anyways with my team.
07:24:32 This is good to know So that I our team is informed on what's happening. But I i'm pretty sure it has to do with the fact that there are yeah, okay So let's talk
07:24:48 about that offline because it it it's it concerns me a little bit that that we've got folks that are making contributions that aren't being tracked.
07:25:01 Correct. Yeah, I I can. I can bring yeah so yeah we'll have the conversation off.
07:25:06 Yeah, they just said Kenny Jessica just took on from Yeah, I notice the same.
07:25:10 I mean the contributions are not being tracked beyond April.
07:25:15 So there was one thing I noticed: I wanted to know if that was something. It takes a batch.
07:25:19 I mean time to get reflected here, or if it should be spontaneous from what we are doing, regular basis, and then maybe, after you accept the batch, then the the the contributions will be deleted.
07:25:31 Something. But yeah, i'll bring it up today with my team and let you guys know about it.
07:25:41 So, thanks. and last, but not least, if you would like to keep in touch on what's happening.
07:25:48 We have the our blog, which we often post information about what's happening in Lafayette.
07:25:57 So I definitely recommend you looking through this and last but not least if you go here under resources, you're gonna see the community forum where you can post your experience.
07:26:09 You can watch our our videos that we created in Youtube for walkthroughs to each one of these tools, etc.
07:26:20 But if you want to post any concerns or well not concerns any information, anything you want to say about our tools start a new topic.
07:26:33 You you can start a new topic right here, so but you're gonna see?
07:26:38 Also some topics that we have been posting about.
07:26:41 Features of specific tools, etc. So this is a great way to to start to keep in touch on what's happening on Lfx. And yeah, i'll i'll let you guys know about that particular.
07:26:59 Case, and if you have any other concerns or any issues well creating your profile, I left the link in the chat.
07:27:06 So if you have any problems, please let us know
07:27:14 And back to you, Guinea. Okay, Thanks. Jess appreciate that.
07:27:22 Which window Am I trying to share this one? Yes, okay,
07:27:32 So one wanted to talk a little bit about cost reductions.
07:27:39 And where is the
07:27:49 Oh, I just have I before you go on. Can I just ask, Jessica, one quick question, or at or you?
07:27:56 One quick question, just to make sure about the Lfx.
07:28:01 The the personal dashboard. that's where they would make sure their affiliations is correct, as well, so that it pulls correct me insights.
07:28:09 I just wanna make sure. Yes, I was correct. Okay, Thank you.
07:28:19 I Oh, in case in case folks aren't aware Sandra is a program manager.
07:28:27 She works on a new K. another projects for those of you who haven't had a chance to meet her yet
07:28:38 Hello, everyone! So what I wanted to share with regards to cost reduction.
07:28:45 Is that one of the the interesting things here is that on a year to year basis?
07:28:57 If we look at od l versus own app in terms of just the the job costs and things like that.
07:29:09 Odel has reduced its cost by about 45%.
07:29:17 So it's it's was was a pretty substantial savings.
07:29:25 Odiel and own app are pretty much executing the same number of Jenkins jobs as they were.
07:29:29 This time last year. but I own app is executing most of their jobs on more expensive instance, types will audio has has basically moved to the newest and less expensive instance instance.
07:29:46 Types. So i'll be ting you know i'm just teeing up this conversation.
07:29:49 It's not for today. I just wanted to make folks aware of it.
07:29:54 Talking to the folks on the it team to get a better understanding of.
07:30:01 What odils done and see how we can Maybe Take advantage of that, because it's pretty significant cost savings and just kind of piggybacking on that the budget cycle will be starting
07:30:17 soon be prepared to see an email from me within the next week or 2 on that
07:30:29 I've lost my window question. any audio is it because they they did some optimization of the code, or they decide to reduce because they're investigating.
07:30:43 We don't know yet at this stage. right yeah to investigate to see if there is anything we can apply to one up we're trying to say, to us.
07:30:54 Okay, exactly. yeah. I don't have enough information It's just a stark contrast.
07:30:58 So I I wanna see what we might be able to learn, and what we might be able to apply.
07:31:03 It may be some it may be nothing I don't know yet
07:31:09 Okay. Okay. Sorry Moving on Can I mention something?
07:31:18 I wanted to give a quick update on as well. I forgot the added in the calendar.
07:31:25 Yeah. So just pretty quick. yesterday I was looking a little bit more into those projects that have issues with dependencies.
07:31:34 So I discovered that the way as bomb works is very similar to to Maven, basically.
07:31:42 But where it expects to repo to be located in a particular location, and where he's gonna find the dependencies that are built during the stage job.
07:31:55 So yesterday we added a new change in in Ci management to make sure that as farm is able to find that directory, because in our inner stage job we move the location to a temporary location in the in the file system
07:32:15 so that's the reason why we were facing those errors before.
07:32:20 But we merged a change to help as phone locate the temporary.
07:32:27 Folder where those built dependencies are and I think it's working fine.
07:32:33 Now I tested with a few repos. But if you guys see any other issues, please let me know.
07:32:39 This is this is a change. That was March. I just put it in the chat
07:32:49 And yeah, we should be all good with Spam now.
07:32:52 And if you guys see any other issue, please let me know.
07:32:56 Yeah, just this way, I mean for Dc. we I mean I didn't encounter any issue before should we recheck anything or no, you should be good nothing should have changed for existing projects.
07:33:08 The only thing that we added. If you look at the changes in the global settings file, we added a new profile to basically find the temporary location of the M.
07:33:19 2 repo, and I think in your case, maybe your dependencies were already set to be found on releases repository.
07:33:29 But for components that build their dependencies as they grow, they should be able to be found within the M.
07:33:38 To reboot if I remember, I mean there was a change.
07:33:41 We added part of the the script for this bomb explicit will run where we use this, especially a parameter where to find it. right.
07:33:50 So I think, for some of the Dca components I was using that property to specify back to locate it. Is that property still?
07:34:00 Yeah. Okay, So that that change was basically to tell us phone to use the global settings file in as part of the input for entering files.
07:34:14 And for this second case our asp was still using that file which is good, with the only thing that we added was the change in the settings.
07:34:23 File itself to make sure that the same way releases repo is located on nexus to make sure we tell it to find the local M.
07:34:37 2 folder in the temporary location where we move it at the time of build.
07:34:41 During Jenkins. okay, that's that's the relation But yeah, if you guys have any other issues, please let me know.
07:34:56 Okay, Duke. moving on to integration. Ptl Katherine
07:35:09 More nuke. So yes, So just a reminder that the if there is any body interested to lead this group.
07:35:20 We were setting the deadline to August 11, because we know with the vacation period people are probably busy with them currently, which is a nice activity, and therefore, if there is no no nomination, by then we need to move from
07:35:35 one to the option
07:35:43 Okay, Thank you.
07:35:51 You wanna dive into project lifecycle discussion
07:36:12 Might be on mute again. that was on mute, and I was thinking that before I was tackling these topics
07:36:25 Just wanted to remind people that we we have kick off the nomination of Jakarta.
07:36:32 In July, and now it is extended to September, so it gives time to people to submit their nomination.
07:36:41 Some nomination will be reflected into on our budgets, because we have already released this week.
07:36:47 I think the demo 2,021 budgets, and also do our budget.
07:36:53 So we will also associate the award with budgets as well, and I see the opportunity to thanks whoever wasn't just to release the budgets.
07:37:04 People from the Linux condition. We got several on a budget this this this week, and play this week to her corners of ptl to hookonize, or 100 commits contributor or commuters or
07:37:18 leaders. So it's it was a nice way to thank all of you.
07:37:27 For your K continuous engagement with the ownup community.
07:37:31 Continue to see that. maybe it was part of you batch update after that I don't know.
07:37:38 Okay, maybe I step away making that. But anyway, we can come back on the budget.
07:37:43 So now we had the we have some change, and maybe we can click on the link, though.
07:37:52 We never had an opportunity to set up a dedicated call to look at the modification that we should apply based on the or maintain a project task force.
07:38:07 The Project Life cycle was not a show stopper for the team election previously, and it will not be.
07:38:17 But we saw it would be nice to breed of cha with the the. So I wanted to see the opportunity that we have time today with all of you to maybe have a look together and maybe to to do some edit
07:38:35 together. Is it okay for everybody?
07:38:42 We might not have the
07:38:49 Pass for jumping, but I think i've noticed that thomas is there? and and David as well.
07:38:55 I hope I don't miss anybody participate and contributing to this task force.
07:39:00 So let's let's review right and maybe I will also try to open a second page on my second screen where we can.
07:39:09 He define the project. Life cycle so let's heat together. all the activities of the ownup committee are articulated around project and healing.
07:39:20 I think it's them true the school of each project is aligned with unup architecture, and the scoop of each release is defined as the objective to fulfill a particle use case true and not true because we we
07:39:34 don't only Philip a use case. There are there are also different types of requirements like the features.
07:39:43 The spec, the non-functional requirement.
07:39:47 So I was wondering if we should extend the definition or not.
07:39:50 All we can just call it requirement and put on the market use, case, non-functional equipment.
07:39:59 What's your feeling about this center because it's not only a use case that we are really yeah that's right?
07:40:09 So it could be a feature or a particular use case.
07:40:11 I, I would also agree on that. yeah, But what we can do is we can call it a let me go to this page as well.
07:40:29 A feature or use case. Yeah, just give me 1 s.
07:40:32 I will try to put in the needed, so it should be reflected.
07:40:39 Come on, Come on, Come on. Yeah.
07:40:50 To the agent, mode coming slow
07:41:01 And kind of yeah i'm kind of toggling back and forth, because you can't see the comments.
07:41:09 When you're in edit mode so can can you so can you put in also use cases?
07:41:18 Yeah.
07:41:23 Like more so it's gee it choose
07:41:46 But whatever or maybe I say, non function.
07:41:54 Oh, God! and I would put eating seat we don't need to spell it all everything.
07:42:03 I guess, but it's we do have a cool can be non functional or functional function.
07:42:16 But Lisa embrace the look of
07:42:21 Are you good with that? Alright, then, is a long term, and they were set up to deliver features across multiple Hindi.
07:42:35 Time to say we can see a requirement, since we have just defined requirement.
07:42:38 What do you think
07:42:43 Changing the word here moment the requirements I mean.
07:42:53 It fulfills the requirement, but delivers a requirement.
07:42:56 I mean it. is it's fulfilling requirements right or or implementing a a feature, but not a delivering a requirement.
07:43:07 Okay, that's my bad English. so should I just keep deliver features.
07:43:15 Yeah, I would say so. Yeah, that looks good project and he's life like a are simple and provide sufficient disability to all routines to coordinate with one another and flock.
07:43:29 Naturally the key phone of the project and his life cycle process.
07:43:36 Think.
07:43:41 Have to provide adequate vulnerability to all stakeholders, provide synchronization and simple to contributors.
07:43:52 The document cover the owner Project life cycle
07:44:02 Okay, let's go there yeah let's have a blink
07:44:16 So there's the link that is proposed and it has been updated by David, David updated on the 2022.
07:44:33 Keep this link, so, is it I I have a D. so.
07:44:37 Can you put the link? Yep: Maybe yeah, I just delete in sell the link.
07:44:45 And while you are doing this, I moved to this coconception life cycle overview the project's life cycle provides the freedom for each to conduct it according to their school and work.
07:44:58 Of it
07:45:03 On all each project open. enough police can be composed of one to end project The number of contributing projects to a may vary over time, and we do this.
07:45:17 Oh, he isn't initiated project believers the project life cycle process does not impose a duration for the project.
07:45:27 No, for the there is an independent release band document specify if he needs dialogue far.
07:45:40 I think that it Okay, there's no comment I'm, thinking to move on the section 3 quick.
07:45:46 Okay, which is project life cycle States.
07:45:49 And have you so here yeah so you're you're looking at the editing one so i've got a note in here about 3 3 3 that we need to reconcile that with a with some
07:46:08 duplicate content. that is here yeah it's probably all then, because since then we had the on 19
07:46:28 So, David and Thomas, since you hope doesn't be your maintain project is, are you really using this project life cycle of of your discussion, or how would you like to proceed?
07:46:41 Do we need to update the black page or share by guinea or deprecation? Yeah.
07:46:48 So deprecated. Well, we've we've referred to the life cycle a number of times in our discussion, and we've we've talked about potentially having another life cycle.
07:47:06 State but it's unfortunate that amy couldn't be here today because I think she she's the one that I think has the best grasp of of you know are thinking about that but I I think
07:47:24 that the the Pr. the work that we're doing in that group, I think, may have some influence on the life cycle
07:47:37 So, but I think I really think we need Amy in the discussion
07:47:47 Okay, So So yeah, So what's what's here in this in this whole section.
07:47:55 Is
07:48:03 Has some content here. But yeah, we need. We know. we need to reconcile these 2 documents where something needs to live in one place or another.
07:48:15 I think from my perspective having the life cycle docker broken out from the community document to me makes sense rather than being embedded in the community document.
07:48:36 Because the life cycle tends to be more about from my perspective.
07:48:43 More about policy. then, then, how we manage the community so that's where I would make the distinction.
07:48:52 But to David's point if he thinks that that we need We don't have the right folks on the call.
07:48:58 Then maybe we just skip past this section. Yes, I just put the known thing.
07:49:06 I just put a note that maybe we need to suppose. I say, Hey, Congratulations reconcile project.
07:49:23 Live life cycle right? I you with the
07:49:31 The one over there. Maybe because I need. so. is it something that it can be addressed by the maintain team
07:49:45 Then we can see you together. So you need to reconstruct this page with the other page that you were mentioning.
07:49:53 Can. Yeah, we we can if you'd like Catherine We can add it as a topic to our Monday meeting.
07:50:01 That would be great. I just need to have the Southern face that you were there.
07:50:06 Kenny, what was the I just think
07:50:20 Maybe on this to my seo.
07:50:28 So yeah, I i'm yeah i'm i'm we're asking this kind of questions.
07:50:36 Yeah the time before, and So we have information in the info dot com, which is about the lifecycle state, and we also have information on the Wiki.
07:50:52 And but do, Are we really able to to to do those reviews on the regular base?
07:51:04 And so i'm not sure when when there is a last life cycle radio process.
07:51:12 Was performed for a specific project. But Are you really having the resources to do it?
07:51:23 I I think we have the resources I think we aren't taking the necessarily taking the time.
07:51:30 Give me 1 s here, and
07:51:38 So so I I think if this is a reliable and up to date information, then it's a it's it's good to have it definitely.
07:51:52 But who is who is really checking it on a regular base, if a project may be also come from a incubation state into a cost state, or might maybe vice versa.
07:52:13 I thought that we had doing with this information. I think because I think that there is a process of evaluation, a project in this term.
07:52:24 This is not it's not a a 15 min task.
07:52:34 I think
07:52:35 Okay, and the last. So maturity reviews the last round was 2020. Yeah.
07:52:43 So that's what i'm i'm questioning so how reliable is this information?
07:52:53 If we have is the last update from a single project in 2,020
07:53:06 Well, well, yeah, I think you make a good point but the the Project maturity reviews, as far as i'm aware.
07:53:15 Are not We're not intended to be periodic they're more ad hoc, and so when we did this before this was led by Jason and I can't remember if it was that attached to
07:53:32 a release or not. and it took a number of months to get through the whole thing.
07:53:38 But it was it was an ad hoc review where we you know.
07:53:43 I think the Tsc. just said, Hey, you know we need to do this.
07:53:47 We haven't done this for a while. you know we need to go through this, and we did.
07:53:52 Now you could argue. Okay? Well, that was what it we say.
07:53:57 2 years ago. yeah, just over 2 years ago, so maybe it's time for another review.
07:54:05 I think you are right, visit, because the local scenes have changed.
07:54:10 Some I mean we should look at it here. some project does not exist are no more supported. So we should change.
07:54:20 Probably as it was, but it was there's not something so probably something we can discuss next week hoping.
07:54:30 We have a border origins on the Tsc: Yeah.
07:54:34 And and to that point, you know I I thought that this review that we did was, was very successful, brought out some interesting information, but a lot of that was sort of the result of having you know a champion to drive it who was
07:54:52 Jason. And so if the Tsc. wants to take this on. again you, you know, the folks on this call might want to be thinking about who would be our champion for the next review, So So there's couple aspects of
07:55:11 this one is let's let's think about this in almost in a in a technical debt context.
07:55:22 The project reviews should be driven by the ptls right.
07:55:27 The ptl should say, Hey, I want my project to get to the next level, and they should be the ones driving, and it shouldn't necessarily be driven by the Tsc.
07:55:37 That, said we kind of have this technical debt of.
07:55:42 We need to get caught up because we haven't really been monitoring or paying attention to this for a couple of years.
07:55:49 So I I do think that there's kind of a a general audit that's probably needed and to David's point somebody needs to be the the champion for that and Then once we get there just kind of need to
07:56:05 start looking at this, and and the Ptl should be looking at this as you know.
07:56:13 Where does my project exist? Do I want to be something that is is considered?
07:56:17 You know, part of the the own apps core deliverables, and and I should get my project elevated there.
07:56:27 That's just a couple, of thoughts that I have on that. so to David's point, Yes, we need a champion for kind of this this catch up exercise, and then after that the the the ptls this should be
07:56:42 a something that they're striving for
07:56:54 And you can see here where the the work group that went through and reviewed it.
07:56:57 When we did the last big batch some of them were declined.
07:57:02 Some of them were approved. Some of them went back to the communities to say, Hey,
07:57:08 Or went back to the project team to say, Hey, we need more information, or you know we felt this was incomplete or something like that.
07:57:19 So, and maybe we could even get Jason to come back in just to advise us on the process, because it's been a while.
07:57:28 But it. but as I recall it was, it was well done.
07:57:31 It was a successful project, so an excellent idea! I like it
07:57:46 And maybe also add these items to the Ptl call on Monday, David, to give awareness to other taste of all the Pdf.
07:57:55 Feel there is no pressure on that one right we don't jeopardize the release, but it would be nice to have it all right.
07:58:08 I will add it to the agenda
07:58:29 Okay.
07:58:40 Oh, where we are. So I just add a note in the agenda page of today.
07:58:48 Hmm. Who state that maybe The and project team could reconcile the the suggested by David?
07:58:58 It could be the topics of next Monday. Was it the the only section?
07:59:04 There is no more on the av page i'm sorry you exited because that was on the other page.
07:59:11 It was 3 we have printed full. Yes. so moving on to 3.4
07:59:17 When I look through it. I didn't have anything that I thought needed to be changed.
07:59:20 There.
07:59:26 Do we need? Was it only this section? or do we need to do? We need to leave? you?
07:59:34 Do have just looking promotion.
07:59:44 Posting anything that we need to change
07:59:51 Related to the project. Have you posted 2 weeks in advance?
07:59:54 We can keep the same practice. Oh, there is something in yellow.
08:00:00 Do you think he is Kicko? The project team may request the
08:00:10 And exponential. Yeah. I I saw that one.
08:00:20 That particular one is is unrelated to a a release.
08:00:31 Because a project should be able to say, hey? I want to be promoted at any time, any we can change this statement.
08:00:42 I think it's good anybody heres have any concern do we?
08:00:47 Deleted, okay, all deleted. And then you have also a yellow item above, which is maybe a link that you want to add.
08:00:58 I'll let you do this
08:01:05 And then just to move the reading the series weekend weekend change the link.
08:01:14 So that goes back to the same page that we were looking at. Yeah.
08:01:21 Okay, so leave that one because Then there is another comment on your project.
08:01:29 You incubation
08:01:34 Go back to the same place
08:01:47 So
08:01:51 Oh, that's just providing the location where the template is
08:02:00 Okay, I lost I I I lost which tab that was so that there's where the the the template is.
08:02:09 So that was the only thing there just needs to be added.
08:02:15 Then you have the different state. incubation, maturity, kodako, termination, does not really exist.
08:02:24 Its account have one cross dependencies and 3 3, 6, 1, 3, 9, and i'm not sure if we use these anymore, because it's more tied to a release
08:03:02 Yeah, I think we can move. let's see for the incubation.
08:03:09 You still need to list the dependency without the project I would keep
08:03:20 Is to alight your project dependency, for example, from dependency.
08:03:29 We open daylight
08:03:35 Okay, that makes Okay.
08:03:47 Okay. maturity back to the
08:03:54 So there's the maturity reviews okay
08:04:04 Basically, those are the steps for what goes into a maturity.
08:04:08 Review.
08:04:13 So this was just a link to the page
08:04:20 On a core review we don't have anything that's in core status.
08:04:23 Yet, and that's 1 one of the areas where we've been kind of talking about.
08:04:32 Is probably needed
08:04:48 So for something to move to their stable team contributors affiliated with at least 3 different companies.
08:04:59 Team members who have been active on the project for more than 2 releases
08:05:12 Termination, current termination. Do we need to wait to change into our guys to be aligned with the stages?
08:05:20 Yeah. So I just that whole thing says just needs a rework is is what my notes on it.
08:05:32 And then unmaintained. So this probably needs a rework based upon the work that we are currently doing.
08:05:39 I would think
08:05:50 Which should be aligned with the work of
08:05:59 Like in the agenda David i'm i'm having that i'm.
08:06:10 Adding that under the task force. Yeah. if you and or Kenny could join the meeting on Monday, that would be helpful
08:06:20 I need to the time, and I wish you if I can imagine that it's right before the ptl meetings on Monday
08:06:44 So probably I think It's 8 probably 8 am your time currently and and Catherine, if you're not available Kenny, if you could join it's just I just wanna make sure that we have someone on the call that
08:06:59 understands the ask to the working group
08:07:13 Yep. I should be able to be there. and day before the video cold
08:07:28 What I can do
08:07:36 Mature Release
08:07:48 Yeah, I think it's still valuable
08:07:56 So
08:08:06 Oh, we should replace with the what Well, this is the yeah this, this, this, this is interesting, because here we're talking about Project life cycle.
08:08:21 And then suddenly we shift to talking about the release process.
08:08:28 Yeah, maybe we should not cover that. So for project. life I can should be covered by the Venice cottage, which is already covered by visit by something, and so on.
08:08:40 Maybe all this section does not make sense anymore
08:08:56 Does anybody here on the call at any opinion? I think. Kenny is right.
08:09:04 We should remove 3, 3, 7. So, Mr. Release, Manager, your thoughts ,
08:09:20 I I think I need i've got the link Kenny.
08:09:24 I think I need some time to look through this. I hate to just kind of shoot from the hip.
08:09:30 No problem.
08:09:45 Please. 3, 3, 7,
08:10:03 For your life. Okay, I think we track everything. I think we did the work.
08:10:10 Great, and thank you to everybody to stay on the call. So back the agenda.
08:10:16 I give you the flow again, Kenny, you can share more insights about the bathroom date.
08:10:19 Yeah, the badge update. So folks may have seen the badges going out.
08:10:24 Couple of interesting things there. we finally figured out Why, we could not get them to upload properly, and we've been working on that since February, and I guess there's been a lot of back and forth
08:10:41 between the between Casey and and the folks at currently which manages our badges.
08:10:48 And as it turns out, it it was something as simple as we were not including columns we didn't use in the upload.
08:11:05 And yeah, it was. it was. It was really kind of a dumb thing, and it took way too long to get resolved.
08:11:12 So The information was pulled in February, and the badge process is supposed to take place in Q.
08:11:22 One, and it will going forward there is one kind of thing that happened, and there's nothing we can do about it.
08:11:33 At this point all of the badges that were issued.
08:11:37 This cycle were stamped 2022, when, in fact, they reflect the status of 2021.
08:11:50 So if if if you're confused about you got a badge, and it's like well this doesn't make sense to me.
08:11:56 It it's actually for last year even though it's got this year's timestamp on it date stamp on it. and q one of next year that'd be Okay, so.
08:12:09 I'm sorry. Let me stop that is true for everything except the except the award and the demo badges, because we caught the error.
08:12:24 But everything else had already been sent, so the award and demo badges are correctly stamped.
08:12:33 2021. Everything else is for the most part incorrectly stamped.
08:12:39 2022 but in Q. one. Next year I will go through and generate what is the true.
08:12:49 22 badges, and we will release those.
08:12:53 So they're it's it's there's going to be more things stamped 2022 than there should be our apologies.
08:13:05 For that. But there's not much we can do about it now for badges that pre for award badges that predate 2021.
08:13:17 I will be going through those as I can to make sure that that those those award badges and demo badges get issued.
08:13:27 And i'm going to try and go back all the way to Amsterdam if I can.
08:13:35 So we will see what happens there but that's that's it. i'm super excited that these have gotten out.
08:13:43 If you think you should have received a badge but you didn't please reach out to me.
08:13:50 Maybe an issue with email address that was pulled automatically out of the system.
08:13:54 We've seen that situation happen with at least one of the the members of our community, and also at this point it's a 100% manual process, and since it's not automated there are errors, and yes, I
08:14:11 have made errors as well in that. so if you think you should have gotten a badge, and you didn't just reach out to me.
08:14:20 But folks, i've seen folks sharing them in their linkedin profiles and things like that.
08:14:27 So I think that's that's a really great thing, and i'm super happy this is so so long overdue that we were able to to get this accomplished any questions
08:14:47 Okay, That was kind of a typical rambling Kenny section of the meeting there.
08:14:52 So we'll move on one summit is coming up Cfps are closed.
08:14:59 We got, I think, a 100 if the 8 cfps if i'm, that's from memory.
08:15:08 There may be, you know, plus or minus a couple there.
08:15:12 So the the Committee is now going through and reviewing those those session proposals.
08:15:20 But please register for the event. And then, immediately following the one summit is our next developer and testing forum.
08:15:32 This is going to be one of our 2 day events rather than a a 4 day event.
08:15:37 And registration is open for that as well it's just a simple click, button.
08:15:45 If you are already planning on going to the one summit if you're going to be attending completely separately.
08:15:52 There's a separate registration link for that and the submissions.
08:15:58 You can start submission, submitting your topics on the page.
